Charles is a co-founder of Hoare Ridge & Morris, and a consultant to the firm. He has over 40 years experience in architecture. His work has included the masterplanning of village extensions, alterations to houses listed and unlisted, the design of new country houses, hotels, surgeries and office buildings. He also designs gardens, furniture and light-fittings alongside his buildings.
Charles has a prodigious knowledge of the UK’s indigenous building materials and a finely-tuned sensitivity to place. He is an experienced negotiator and contract administrator, with a reputation for delivering complex projects on time and to budget.
He has been active in judging the RICS Awards and has served on the judging panel of the Prince’s Craft Awards. He was elected to the Art Workers Guild in 2006. In 2011 he was appointed LVO in recognition of his work at the Sandringham Estate and other properties occupied by the Royal Family. He also served on the Duchy of Cornwall’s commercial property committee for many years.
